Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | What good friends left behind: "It is from the vast, Soviet-built base at Bagram, near Kabul, that the US controls the land route to the riches of the Caspian Basin. But, as in that other conquest, Iraq, all is not going smoothly. 'We get shot at every time we go off base,' said Colonel Rod Davis. 'For us, that's a combat zone out there.'
I said to him, 'But President Bush says you liberated Afghanistan. Why should people shoot at you?'
'Hostile elements are everywhere, my friend.'
'Is that surprising, when you support murderous warlords?' I replied.
'We call them regional governors.' "
Very very very Bad news for BushCo and the Republican congress
Im all atwitter *grin*
The Neal Pollack Invasion: "Man In Black, RIP [Sep 12, 2003]

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

Democrats Challenge Policy of Higher Funding for Iraqis Than for Americans "
The Seattle Times: Local News: Soldier served in Iraq but may be deported

Big lie on Iraq comes full circle:

"Moreover, the corollary mantra, which says that Americans must make sacrifices to win the war on terror, is also in trouble. Who makes the sacrifices? The rich Americans celebrating their tax ''refunds''? The Republican leadership who have few if any sons and daughters in harm's way? Giant corporations like Dick Cheney's Halliburton or Bechtel? No, the sacrifices will be made mostly by the sons and daughters of the poor and the working class who must fight the war. Jessica Lynch joined the army so she could get money for a college education. Her roommate Lori Piestewa, who was killed in action, joined because she was a Native American single mother who needed the money to raise her two children.
There will be sacrifices made by schoolchildren who depend on state and local money, which has disappeared into the ''war effort,'' the elderly who will not benefit from prescription drug reform; the working men whose overtime pay the president wishes to cut; the chronically unemployed whose jobs have disappeared, and the future generations who will have to work to pay off the president's huge debt."

From the Chicago Sun Times
I've just discovered what people are paying for hosting for political sites and frankly.. it boggles the mind. The site maintaining the list of americans killed in Iraq was apparently paying approximately $500 a month, recieving 13,000 hits a day and doing 18 gigs in bandwidth.

For anyone who would like to know... our sites on just one server do 10,000 Uniques a day (probably 4 times that in "hits"),
fork out 50+ gig a day and costs... about $100 a month.

Anyone interested in doing a personal blog, political website, whatever just email me and ill set you up with the most professional hosts in the business. And no.. not to make money. Its ridiculous anyone charges those prices.. especially for such low traffic sites.

(No drunken ravings isnt on the server i mentioned. Its my hobby)
HAHAHAHEHEHEHehehehaha. You HAVE to read this Black Box Recorder: "Right... I can just imagine the chain of events that would be required in this reconstruction of reality:

SCENE: A cafe in Damascus, or perhaps Hama. ABDULLAH, a budding anti-American 'jihadi', sits at a table drinking coffee and smoking a water pipe. His obligatory Qur'an is open to the sura condemning all Americans to hell. A burning US flag decorates the far wall of the cafe. OUTSIDE we hear a large crowd chanting 'No to American freedom and democracy, yes to Comrade Saddam!' repeatedly.
ENTER: MOHAMMAD, ABDULLAH'S comrade and fellow anti-American activist, who is wearing a t-shirt with the faces of Presidents Bashar Assad, Saddam Hussein, and Jacques Chirac, drawn in socialist realist style, and the words 'Down with America' emblazoned on it.
MOHAMMAD: I have come to say goodbye, Abdullah, and wish you good luck in your jihad against the Americans in Iraq. Do you have everything you need - your AK, your roadside bomb, and your night-vision goggles?
ABDULLAH: Yes. Thank you, Mohammad.
MOHAMMAD: And are you sure you are not forgetting to take the most important things - your Syrian identity card and a large sum of money?
ABDULLAH: Thanks for reminding me. Proper identification is crucial for the underground guerilla. And while Saddam's Werewolves organization does pay well and offers large sums of money to 'jihadis' like me who are willing to attack Americans, one can never have too much money on hand during a firefight.

Well, maybe the Bush administration can hire a willing filmmaker and turn their version of reality into a movie - like they did with that '9/11' fantasy documetary."

CNN.com - The acceptance speech -- 2004 - Sep. 8, 2003: "There were 1.4 million more Americans -- including 700,000 more children -- living in poverty last year than there were one year earlier. Bush inherited a projected 10-year federal budget surplus of $5.6 trillion .Today, best estimates project that the 10-year federal budget will instead add up to a $3.3 trillion deficit. That is an adverse turn-around in federal finances -- in just two and a half years -- of nearly $9 trillion. "

SILENCE OF THE MEDIA LAMBS: The Election Story Never Told: "Here's how the president of the United States was elected: In the months leading up to the November balloting, Florida Governor Jeb Bush and his Secretary of State, Katherine Harris, ordered local elections supervisors to purge 64,000 voters from voter lists on the grounds that they were felons who were not entitled to vote in Florida. As it turns out, these voters weren't felons, or at least, only a very few were. However, the voters on this 'scrub list' were, notably, African-American (about 54 percent), while most of the others wrongly barred from voting were white and Hispanic Democrats.

Beginning in November, this extraordinary news ran, as it should, on Page 1 of the country's leading paper. Unfortunately, it was in the wrong country: Britain"

American troops forced to buy own wartime gear
Last Christmas, Mike Corcoran sent his mother an unusual Christmas list: He wanted night-vision goggles, a global positioning system and a short-wave radio. Corcoran, then a Marine sergeant in Afghanistan, wanted the goggles so he could see on patrols. They cost about $2,000 each.
According to an Army internal report released earlier this summer, many ground troops like Corcoran decided to dip into their own pockets to get the equipment they needed to fight in Afghanistan and in Iraq."

According to Daily Kos: Lieberman is NOT a Republican so long as the American Conservative Union doesnt rate him high. So we must remember from this point on just because it talks like Rove, thinks like Bush, cant seem to find a Bush policy it doesnt support, and only attacks democratic politicians... that doesnt mean its not a true blue democrat.
Thinking like this got us the politicians who meekly let Bushco steal the presidency and plunge this country down into a pit we'll spend decades crawling out of (again).
